Green Key
Since 2023, our hotel DoubleTree by Hilton Ljubljana has been awarded the Green Key certificate, one of the leading international eco‑labels for tourism and hospitality. Green Key is a globally recognised standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable operations within the tourism industry. The certification is awarded to establishments that comply with strict sustainability criteria set by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), an independent international organisation. Receiving the Green Key label reflects our long‑term commitment to responsible hospitality and acknowledges our efforts to operate in an environmentally and socially sustainable way.
Our sustainability approach includes:
- Environmentally responsible management across all areas of our operations
- Continuous optimisation of energy and water use
- Responsible sourcing and waste reduction
- Regular staff training and awareness in sustainability practices
- Ongoing improvement through monitoring and independent audits
The Green Key certification is reviewed annually and confirms that our sustainability practices meet internationally defined standards and are subject to regular verification. By integrating sustainability into our daily operations, we aim to reduce our environmental footprint while maintaining high standards of comfort, quality, and guest experience.
Slovenia Green
DoubleTree by Hilton Ljubljana is also part of the Slovenia Green network and is entitled to carry the Slovenia Green label, the national sustainability certification of Slovenian tourism.
Slovenia Green is the official sustainability programme and certification scheme developed at national level under the umbrella brand SLOVENIA GREEN. The scheme brings together destinations, accommodations and tourism service providers that are committed to the long‑term development of sustainable tourism in Slovenia and that meet clearly defined environmental, social and economic criteria. The programme is owned and managed by the Slovenian Tourist Board and implemented in cooperation with accredited partners and international standards, including the Green Destinations Standard, which is recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
As a member of the Slovenia Green Association, our hotel is part of an active network of destinations and businesses that share best practices, develop sustainable tourism initiatives and strengthen the visibility and credibility of sustainable tourism in Slovenia, both nationally and internationally. Being part of the Slovenia Green network aligns our operations with Slovenia’s national sustainability strategy and confirms our commitment to responsible tourism, continuous improvement and high environmental standards.
